Thanks very much for taking the time to comment and now I have to apologize. The bird actually is a song sparrow. I tried to correct it but I can't seem to find a way to edit my text. I'm sorry for leading you astray on this one.

Beautiful picture of a magnificent bird! I love trying to identify birds - to the best of my ability ha ha. I figured this was not a Song Sparrow due to the lack of a central patch on his breast, but I always find myself not quite sure with this fella - even though you said so ha ha. My bird book says there are at least 18 subspecies: 8 in Canada as breeders, and 4 as winter visitors! Now I know why it is challenging with these fellows!!! I have had some good sightings of these guys on bird walks though:) Thanks for keeping me sharp!!!
